What Is a Sentence?

A sentence is a group of words that makes complete sense.

A sentence has two parts:

1. Naming part (Who or What): This tells us who or what the sentence is about. Example: Ravi, The dog, Meena

2. Doing part (What does): This tells us what the naming part does. Example: runs fast, barks loudly, sings a song

Think: "Ravi runs fast." — Ravi is the naming part. "runs fast" is the doing part.
