Rhyming words are words that have the same ending sound. When you say them aloud, they sound similar at the end. Rhyming words make poems, songs, and stories fun to read and listen to!
Examples:
• cat – bat – mat – hat (all end with the "-at" sound)
• ring – sing – king – wing (all end with the "-ing" sound)
• moon – spoon – soon – noon (all end with the "-oon" sound)
Important: Rhyming words sound the same at the end, but they do NOT need to be spelled the same way. For example: blue and shoe rhyme because they sound the same at the end, even though they are spelled differently!
Step 1: Say the two words aloud.
Step 2: Listen to the ending sound of each word.
Step 3: If the ending sounds are the same, the words rhyme!
Example: Do "cake" and "lake" rhyme? Say them aloud — "cake... lake." Yes! Both end with the "-ake" sound. They rhyme! ✓
Example: Do "cat" and "dog" rhyme? Say them aloud — "cat... dog." No! "-at" and "-og" are different sounds. They do NOT rhyme. ✗

| -ight | night, light, right, bright, fight, sight, tight, flight |

Did you know? Some Hindi words also rhyme with English words or with each other! Here are some fun examples:
• chai – bhai (tea – brother) — both end with "-ai" sound
• roti – moti (bread – pearl) — both end with "-oti" sound
• naam – kaam (name – work) — both end with "-aam" sound
• ghar – bahar (home – outside) — both end with "-ar" sound
• dil – mil (heart – meet) — both end with "-il" sound
Rhyming is used in Hindi poems, songs, and even Bollywood movie dialogues!
