National days are special days that are important for our whole country. On these days, we remember great events in our history and honour the leaders who made India a free and strong nation.

National days are celebrated all over India — in schools, offices, and public places. The government declares these as national holidays so everyone can participate in the celebrations.

🇮🇳 Republic Day — 26th January

Republic Day is celebrated on 26th January every year. On this day in 1950, the Constitution of India came into effect. The Constitution is the book of rules that tells how our country should be governed.

🇮🇳 Independence Day — 15th August

Independence Day is celebrated on 15th August every year. On this day in 1947, India became free from British rule after nearly 200 years.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on 2nd October — the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi).

Children's Day is celebrated on 14th November — the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister.

🇮🇳 Republic Day — 26th January

On 26th January 1950, the Constitution of India came into effect. India became a Republic — people choose their own leaders.

On 15th August 1947, India became free from British rule. Freedom fighters like Gandhi, Nehru, Bose, Bhagat Singh fought for freedom.

Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi — Father of the Nation. He led India's freedom through non-violence (ahimsa) and truth (satya).

Birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru — India's first PM. Children called him "Chacha Nehru". He loved children and believed they are the future of India.
