My Body

Class 2

🎯 Learning Objectives

📖 Let Us Begin!

Our body is amazing! It helps us walk, run, eat, see, hear, and do so many things.

We have many body parts. Each part has a special job to do. We must take good care of our body.

Let us learn about our wonderful body!

Parts of Our Body

Our body has many parts. Here are the main ones:

Labelled diagram of a child's body showing head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, chest, stomach, legs and feet
Body PartWhat It Does
HeadIt is at the top. Our brain is inside the head. It helps us think.
EyesWe use eyes to see things.
EarsWe use ears to hear sounds.
NoseWe use the nose to smell and to breathe.
MouthWe use the mouth to eat, drink, and talk.
HandsWe use hands to hold, write, and do work.
LegsWe use legs to walk, run, and jump.
Think about it: What would happen if we could not use our hands? How would we write or eat?

Our Five Senses

We have five senses. Each sense uses a different body part:

Five senses — eye (sight), ear (hearing), nose (smell), hand (touch), tongue (taste)
SenseBody PartExample

Keeping Our Body Clean

We must keep our body clean every day:

Bath every day to keep skin clean. Brush teeth twice a day. Wash hands before eating and after using the toilet. Cut nails regularly. Wash hair twice a week. Wear clean clothes every day.

Our Sense Organs

The body parts we use for our five senses are called sense organs. Each sense organ has a very important job:

Sense OrganSenseHow It Helps Us
EyeSightHelps us see colours, shapes, faces, and danger. We can read, watch, and enjoy the world around us.
EarHearingHelps us hear sounds, music, voices, and warnings. We can listen to our teacher and enjoy songs.
NoseSmellHelps us smell food, flowers, and danger (like smoke or gas). It also helps us breathe.
TongueTasteHelps us taste four flavours — sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. It also helps us speak clearly.
SkinTouchCovers our whole body. Helps us feel hot, cold, pain, pressure, and texture (smooth or rough).

We must take care of our sense organs:
