Who Are Community Helpers?
Look around you! Every day, many people work hard to keep our community safe, healthy, and happy. These people are called community helpers.
A community is a group of people living together in a neighbourhood, town, or city. Community helpers are people who do important jobs to serve others. Without them, our daily life would be very difficult!
From the doctor who treats us when we are sick, to the farmer who grows our food — every helper plays an important role in our lives.
Important Community Helpers

Think about it: Ravi's mother wakes up at 5 AM. By the time Ravi wakes up at 7 AM, the milkman has already delivered milk, the newspaper is at the door, and the sweeper has cleaned the street. So many helpers work while we sleep!
Why Are Community Helpers Important?
Community helpers make our life comfortable, safe, and healthy. Here is why they matter:
- Health: Doctors and nurses keep us healthy and treat us when we are sick.
- Safety: Police officers and firefighters protect us from danger.
- Education: Teachers help us learn, read, write, and become good citizens.
- Food: Farmers grow food so that we never go hungry.
- Cleanliness: Sweepers keep our surroundings clean and free from disease.
- Communication: Postmen deliver important letters and parcels.
- Daily needs: Shopkeepers, vendors, and drivers help us get what we need every day.

How Should We Treat Community Helpers?
All community helpers deserve our respect and gratitude. Here is how we can show respect:
- Always say "Thank you" and "Please" when they help us.
- Never look down on anyone's work — every job is important.
- Do not litter on the road — it makes the sweeper's job harder.
- Follow traffic rules — it helps the police officer.
- Be polite to the auto driver, shopkeeper, and vegetable vendor.
- Pay helpers fairly and on time for their work.
- Offer water or tea to helpers who come to your home (plumber, electrician, delivery person).
- On special days (Diwali, New Year), wish them and share sweets.
🌟 Story: Meena Learns a Lesson
Meena used to throw wrappers on the road. One day, her teacher asked, "Who cleans the road every morning?" Meena said, "The sweeper, Kamla Didi." The teacher said, "Kamla Didi wakes up at 4 AM to clean. Should we make her work harder by littering?" From that day, Meena always used the dustbin and said "Good morning" to Kamla Didi every day.
